We have filed an international patent application for the invention of an \u201canti-SARS-CoV-2 drug\u201d based on novel pyridone carboxylic acid derivatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 26, 2025, Kagoshima University completed a PCT international patent application based on a domestic patent application for an \u201canti-SARS-CoV-2 drug\u201d filed on December 27, 2024 (See \u201cPatent Application\u201d in \u201cResearch Performance\u201d for more information). This invention is based on the results of novel antiviral drug research against SARS-CoV-2 conducted in collaboration with Prof. Ashoke Sharon\u2019s group at the Department of Chemistry, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), India. The international application includes chemically novel compounds not included in the domestic application. We plan to investigate the detailed mechanisms of these compounds and their activity against viruses other than SARS-CoV-2 in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
