class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Our research results on novel anti-SARS-CoV-2 agents to be exhibited at the Innovation Japan 2024<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In collaboration with Prof. Shin Aoki (Tokyo University of Science), our laboratory examined more than 350 amodiaquine derivatives synthesized by his group for their inhibitory effect on SARS-CoV-2 replication in cell cultures and found that some compounds have potent antiviral activity with low cytotoxicity. The compounds also showed similar antiviral activity against mutant strains of SARS-CoV-2. We also collaborated with Prof. Atsushi Kawaguchi (Tsukuba University), and he confirmed the anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity in infected mice after oral administration. These results will be presented in this fair. Since the lead compound amodiaquine is an anti-malaria drug and has inhibitory effects on the replication of not only SARS-CoV-2 but also severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) and Ebola virus<sup>1,2<\/sup>, our amodiaquine derivatives are expected to be promising agents for treatment of emerging and reemerging infectious diseases in the future.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Baba M, Okamoto M, Toyama M, Sakakibara N, Shimojima M, Saijo M, Niwa T, Yagi Y.
