He is a top scientist on the study of viral infections with extremely high fatality rates, such as Ebola and Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, and came to Japan as an invited speaker at the 69th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Virology held in Nagasaki from November 13.
